Since March 2007 a new system is in place in the meal component department at Huuskes in Enschede which flawlessly couples products to orders. By means of a fully mechanised and automated process the number of errors in the order picking department has been reduced to almost zero. The system is running smoothly with the help of the data from Reflex 3000 and the correct hardware.
Rob Huuskes is extremely satisfied with the new system. “People make mistakes however accomplished and motivated they may be. Even those with years of experience sometimes allow mistakes to slip by, not to mention the temporary workforce,” according to Rob Huuskes. Mistakes cost money and therefore, in the past, the meal components were always double-checked at Huuskes. Employees were carrying out checks both in the kitchen as well as in the dispatch department. Rob Huuskes: “People are still needed in Dispatch to deal with the orders. However, in the kitchen we are talking about a saving of 2 people.” Add the reduction in mistakes to all the additional operational costs and the project's payback period is way below the theoretical maximum ROI. In addition to this, customers are much better off now as a result of Huuskes always doing what it promises.
To conclude, the branch in Winschoten will soon be provided with the same system as well. Given that the implementation has gone so successfully, both the results as well as the enthusiasm from Huuskes at the present stage are already noticeable.
